RIVERSIDE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM

This museum was opened in 1924. In the beginning, it consisted of Native American artifacts that was donated by the widow of Cornelius Earle Rumsey, who was famous for starting the National Biscuit Company. The National Biscuit Company is now known as NABISCO. The the museum grew quickly and is now on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum consists of 3 main collections that focus on history, nature, and the culture of the Riverside area.

This preserve is 2851 acres large. It was created to protect the fragile environment around the Whitewater River. The area around this river contains rare plants like the Southwest willow flycatcher and Bell’s video.
