Riverside California places of interest

Riverside is a beautiful city in the great state of California.  Riverside is home to various places that welcome outstate visitors. You can visit these places to really get a feel for what Riverside offers. Let’s take a look at some of the interesting places available to visit on your next time in Riverside, California!


The Heritage House was built in 1891 and is owned by the Riverside Metropolitan Museum.  This eye-catching home is a great example of Victorian-style architecture. The Bettner family, who came to Riverside in the late 1800s, once owned this exquisite home. The Bettner’s high-end tastes, interests, and income level are well illustrated in their meticulously preserved home. You can be admitted to the Heritage House at no charge, but the museum does appreciate a small donation of $5.

This fun and educational attraction can be found in the hills around Jurupa Valley. The Discovery Center has 9 acres of beautiful botanical gardens, and in those gardens, you will find 10 large dinosaur statues! These statues are meant to capture the imagination of some of the young visitors. There are also 82 acres that can be used for school field trips, community events, and private parties. Plus, you can’t forget the gift shop! A great place to stop by to pick up some memorable, fun items!

This museum is supported by the March Air Museum Foundation, which seeks to preserve and promote aviation’s rich history. It is home to over 70 historical aircraft. Some interesting aircraft are the SR-71, which is one of the world’s fastest manned airplanes, and bomber jets that were used during WWII. They also have a nice collection of unmanned aircraft, cargo planes, and helicopters. This Arts Center regularly hosts shows and various special events. The main theatre has a capacity of 1,650 guests. This center is also the first place to screen Gone with the Wind in 1939! You can view musical performances, dance productions, and even comedic sketches at the center. It also organizes shows for children of all ages . It offers something for all ages!

This drive-in theatre, opened in 1964, is the perfect place for good old-fashioned family fun!

Tickets are just $9 for adults and only one dollar for children. BUT-you get to see two movies with one ticket! You also don’t have to worry about not being able to hear the movie. The movie is broadcast over FM radio so you can hear it from the comfort of your car!! You can even bring your own pillows, blankets, and snacks from home!

There is an on-site concession stand if you’d like to buy your treats at the theatre. The theatre is open 365 days a year, and all showings begin after dark!

There are also 3 calming bodies of water located in the park-Lake Evans, Browns Lake, and Fairmount Lake. You can fish, paddle boat, and even do water sports on these lakes! Recognized as one of the highest rated golf courses in Southern California, Oak Quarry is home to a championship-level 18-hole golf course. It was established in 2000 by Dr. Gil Morgan and Schmidt Curly Design. There are several practice areas available, a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch daily, and a 7,200 square-foot clubhouse. This elegant clubhouse has spaces for weddings, corporate meetings, and other special events.

You must also visit the gift shop to purchase custom gear! You can even receive individual and group golf lessons!
